Okay, okay, I *feel* like this is the oldest trick in the book but you show this to a toddler-kinder aged kiddo for the first time and their mind is BLOWN. Plus, there are so many interdisciplinary opportunities here! Oil resists water (science!) and practicing uncovering letter sounds or writing (literacy!).

Magic watercolor drawings
So the way I introduced magic watercolor drawings to my daughter was actually to write a message without her seeing, then tell her to paint over the paper in any color she wanted. She was SO excited and then began writing her own messages and making simple shapes to uncover with colors. It is really that simple! You just need a white oil pastel and some watercolor paint!
