Yay a full reveal of a room in our house, LOL! The sunroom was actually one of the first rooms completed, but I have so far shared the painted door makeover and dining room chandelier transformation! (There are some more great Pottery Barn dupes in this post, too. 😉) This room previously has some scary curtains and a yellow walls. Otherwise it was just a blank slate that we were excited about. Edgar and I both had visions of drinking our coffee basking in the sunlight. You can see one of the MLS photos below. 😬
The Vision
So, here was the moodboard I made on Canva before we moved in. I wanted to use as many pieces as possible that I knew we already had. The photos were ones I knew we had framed in our stuff coming back from Japan. The rug is one we bought at Tuesday Morning years ago and used in our living room in our last place. We did buy these swivel chairs from World Market, which we thought were a great dupe of these pottery barn chairs. We got both chairs for about $600 total after some couponing! Here is how it turned out! TALK ABOUT A TRANSFORMATION AM I RIGHT?! Honestly there is nothing white paint can’t fix people. 😂

I ended up painting my existing brown wooden shelf, just because I wanted to keep this room super bright and light. PLUS I knew I wanted to build another one of these floating shelves for the living room. I didn’t want the two shelves competing for your eye because they are both visible form the living room sofa. So this one got painted with some of the leftover wall color paint. Interestingly, it sometimes feels like a different shade of white than the wall because of how the light hits it.
I also ended up purchasing this round metal table (Amazon affiliate link), which took me a long time to find. I wanted something nice and wide so there was enough room for books, snacks, and coffee for two people if need be. (Plus, plants, lol). The lamp is PB but I got it during a clearance lighting event at a San Antonio PB store for $19.99! Felt I was robbing the place when walked out with my $350 lamp for $20. 🤣 You may remember my hanging planter from it’s spot in our Japan home.
The curtains were previously what I used in our living room. I had another set I was able to use on the patio doors in lieu of the horrible vertical slats. I took those right out. Now my living room currently has no curtains but I am working o n that. LOL. IKEA does not sell these one anymore. I’ll spare you the name of them so you aren’t crushed when you try to find them. They are discontinued and I have had no luck on ebay! 😠I used the old IKEA vidga ceiling tracks for this since I had them from our last place!
A Spot for Murphy
This little item is Murphy’s feeding station. It is something I built way back when I first got into power tools. 😎 The large part is like a pull-out trash can bin that holds her food, and the bottom has a drawer for her bowls. It’s counter-height and 25″ wide so it can be placed at the end of a kitchen counter too. We love that her area is in the sunroom. It’s out of the way of anything else, and right next to the door she goes in and out of for outside time. With that, we think the sunroom is complete!
